Following the Swedish discussion on global climate change one gets the impression that there is international consensus among both scientists and policymakers that global warming is taking place, that it is bad, that it is caused by man-made carbon-dioxide emissions, that mankind can and should do something about it and that the international pollitics surrounding this issue are flawless. However, there are dissenting voices on the scientific as well as on the economic and procedural aspects of international global climate policies.
Perhaps the most prominent dissenting voice in the scientific community is Richard S. Lindzen, Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT, in Boston. Professor Lindzen is in Sweden to receive the first Leo Prize for Independent Thinking for "excellent contributions to climate science and for standing up against climate alarmism".
Another key player in this debate is David Henderson, Visiting Professor at the Westminster Business School, and former head of the Department of Economics and Statistics at the OECD.
Timbro is extremely pleased that these distinguished gentlemen have agreed to present their views on the international climate change debate at this special conference.
Cecilia Stegö Chilò
President, Timbro
